Mardi Himal Trek | An offbeat Himalayan journey beneath the sacred Machhapuchhre peak.

The Mardi Himal Trek is a hidden treasure in the Annapurna region, a short, scenic journey ideal for those seeking solitude and authentic mountain scenery. Following quiet forest trails and ridges, this route offers sweeping views of the Annapurna range, culminating in the spectacular viewpoint of Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m) directly beneath the holy peak of Machhapuchhre (6,993 m).

The trek begins from Pokhara, weaving through lush rhododendron and oak forests before rising into open ridgelines above the clouds. Unlike the busier Annapurna Base Camp route, Mardi Himal offers a calm and less commercialized experience, with cozy teahouses, friendly locals, and ever-changing scenery, from subtropical forests to alpine pastures and snow-clad peaks.

Cultural charm accompanies natural beauty throughout the trail, as you pass through traditional Gurung settlements such as Deurali, Low Camp, and Sidhing, where you can observe rural mountain life. The route rewards trekkers with extraordinary sunrise and sunset views over Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and the unmistakable Fishtail peak.

This 12-day itinerary allows a comfortable pace for acclimatization and exploration, combining nature, culture, and serenity in one of Nepal’s most accessible yet least-crowded treks.
